Program & Facility Expansion Campaign

Welcome to the Robert A. Falk Farm – Home of HETRA

For many years HETRA operated in two privately owned facilities in Valley and Omaha.  HETRA continued to grow over our 25 year history and reached the point where a move was necessary to meet the program demands. HETRA has seen an increase in the number of unique participants served double in the past eight years. As an organization, HETRA has effectively managed consistent growth by responding to the needs of the community through additional programming, service hours, and trained staff.

In June 2014, HETRA moved from the two smaller facilities to one central, larger location in Gretna. This move is an integral element in HETRA’s ongoing commitment to our mission, to provide equine assisted therapies and activities that improve the quality of life both physically and emotionally of adults and children with disabilities.  The new 25 acre farm is well suited for expanding programming, as well as collaborating with the community to create new programs. Our future  is poised to magnify our impact on  individuals with disabilities.

In order to support the transition, HETRA launched a $3 million Program and Facility Expansion Campaign. This Campaign will enable HETRA to significantly develop educational programming, train industry professionals, and continue as a leader in the programmatic excellence of the equine assisted activities and therapies industry.

Through this campaign, HETRA’s future will be secured with the support of our community. HETRA is proud to announce Phase 1 of the Campaign has been met with several generous and crucial donations.

The receipt of nearly $260,000.00 as the result of Omaha’s chapter of Mustaches 4 Kids 2014 campaign, direct donations, and 100% Board and Staff financial commitment have been instrumental in launching our Program and Facility Expansion Campaign, but this is just the beginning…  We need your help to make this opportunity a reality!  We encourage you to invest in HETRA’s future by making a personal financial contribution to Phase 2 of the campaign.

We extend gratitude to everyone who contributed to Phase 1 of the Campaign. Phase 2 of the campaign still has a variety of opportunities to recognize and honor a gift for prosperity; with a horseshoe and donor recognition plate on the Wall of Honor, a plaque on a therapy horse stall, or a sign on a building. Program & Facility Expansion Campaign Milestones

  1. A Purchase Agreement was signed for the Robert A. Falk Farm in May 2015.
  2. Acquisition of needed farm equipment, construction projects, and immediate operating costs secured though in kind donations and Mustaches for Kids Omaha funding.
  3. Thanks to support from HDR Foundation, HETRA was able to insulate and purchase two heaters for the indoor arena.
  4. With grant assistance from the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities, HETRA created the Life Skills Program for individuals with disabilities.
  5. Outpatient Therapy Clinic opened in 2016 –Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation,  Merck Foundation, and AKSARBEN Friends have provided funding for construction of space and purchasing of equipment for the clinic.
  6. In partnership with Go Physical Therapy, HETRA opened the Ethan Falk Therapy Gym in February of 2016.
  7. Opened the new Tack Shack which features used tack, saddles, grooming items, blankets, show clothing along with other western and horse related items. Items have been donated to HETRA, but cannot be used in the current programming, so are sold with proceeds directed towards HETRA participant sponsorships.
  8. HETRA served 120 participants per week at the end the end of 2015 at the new facility and has capacity to grow.

We have made our pledge, and welcome you to join us on this journey to a fully funded $3 million campaign.
