Tuesdays with Tenneson; Happy New Year

Published on January 23, 2018 under Uncategorized

Happy New Year Everyone!

I am pleased to update you on two of my new herd members.

Coby joined us in December. He is a 10 year old Quarter Horse gelding and he started independent riding sessions last Saturday. As you can see, he quickly worked his way into sessions. He is still in training for Therapeutic Riding sessions and we’re sure he will begin those in just a few weeks. I am so impressed with Coby and how well he has adjusted to life at HETRA. He is a quick learner and is becoming a wonderful friend to all.

Lily, Dude’s full sister, is a 16 year old Arabian mare. She joined the HETRA Herd last October and has begun in-session mocks. She will be ready for Therapeutic Riding by mid-February. Lily will also be doing Therapy Services (hippotherapy), and is very excited to be out in the arena with our participants.

It’s nice to look around at my herd-mates and know that they are learning daily and advancing weekly. My very smart, gentle friends are all amazing and all come together to do incredible work for over 130 participants each week.

Horse of  the Year Penny Race has also kicked off for this year! This is possibly my most favorite time at HETRA. I’ve been enamored with Charm who currently holds the title of 2017 Horse of the Year. His beautiful HOTY sign hangs proudly above his stall and while he is very deserving, it’s time to pass the title on. Over the next few months our volunteers and staff members are forming teams to raise funds for us. Funds that are critical to me and my friends. These efforts provide our hay, feed, supplements, hoof care, general care, and every other item that keeps us healthy and happy so we can perform for our participants.

I hope you’ll consider bringing some change out to the barn and placing it in our change cups. If you’d like to support me, my team’s name is Hot to Trot Tenneson and I’d love the honor and title in 2018. Actually, every horse in our great herd is deserving and I cannot wait to see who captures the coveted title this year.
