The Guardian Project Equine Experience for Veterans

The Guardian Project is your call to action: to lift yourself up and lift each other higher. Together, we’ll break the silence around mental health and PTSD, replace stigma with strength, and turn struggle into solidarity. Through powerful training, honest conversations, and fundamental tools for healing, you’ll learn to recognize the battles within — and fight them with courage, compassion, and resilience. This is about rediscovering purpose, rebuilding hope, and reminding every veteran that no one stands alone.

A hands on experience that strengthens your connection with our equine partners. During the equine portion of the program, participants will work with HETRA’s horses to explore awareness, communication, and regulation in a hands-on, grounded way. Through herd observation, grooming, and guided leading activities, Veterans will experience how horses respond to human energy, breath, and intention, offering immediate and honest feedback. This non-riding experience reinforces resiliency skills from the classroom session by building calm command presence, clarity, and connection, reminding participants that steady leadership begins from within. No prior horse experience is needed.

Continental breakfast and a light lunch will be provided.

FREE to military and veterans, but advance registration is required
