Equine Services for Veterans & First Responders
We believe in giving back to those who have selflessly dedicated themselves to our communities and our nation—our active duty military, veterans, and first responders. Our unique equine-assisted therapy programs offer a transformative journey toward healing, connection, and personal growth, specifically tailored for individuals facing the challenges of service, including trauma, PTSD, and physical disabilities.
Why Our Programs Matter
Every individual who has served, whether in combat or on the front line, deserves support on their journey to empowerment and well-being. Our programs harness the incredible bond between humans and horses to promote emotional healing, build resilience, and foster camaraderie among participants. Here, you will find a safe and understanding environment where veterans and first responders can share their experiences, emotions, and stories, surrounded by peers who truly understand.
How you can make a difference
Right now, your support is crucial in creating a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve through our Veterans & First Responders programs. By donating, you're directly contributing to essential services for these individuals, ensuring they receive the care and support they truly deserve. Our monthly event days below remain free for participants because of the generosity of our donors. Consider making a donation today - together, we can stand with those who stand for us!
Monthly Veterans & First Responders Events
Come for one or two of the activities or plan to spend the day at the barn! These are FREE to Veterans, Active Duty Military, First Responders, and their families (spouses, significant others, caregivers, and children aged 5 and older). Reservations are required.
Coffee Hour: Join us for a morning of coffee and connection inside the HETRA Barn. While you’re here, you can enjoy watching our horses in action and see our beautiful facility.
Project Team (Adults only for this event please): The project team works with staff and volunteers to tackle a facility project once a month. From painting benches or poles to gardening or landscaping, these projects help ensure our facility is ready for our participants.
Equine Experience Events: This unique experience is designed to engage the senses, learn different communication techniques, and discover what we can learn from our equine partners that can assist us in everyday life. This hands-on activity will have you engaged in activities with the horses such as Herd Dynamics, Leading, and Grooming. We offer a comfortable and supportive environment tailored to meet your needs.
