Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy’s Mission
is to improve the quality of life both physically and emotionally of adults and children of all ability levels through equine assisted activities.
Visits to the HETRA property are by appointment only.
The nature of our programming and facility management requires focused resources and confidentiality.
Visitors on HETRA property must be part of an organized tour or event, or have made prior arrangements with staff.
At HETRA we see participants with a variety of disabilities including cerebral palsy, hearing impairments, down syndrome, head injuries, visual impairments, head or spinal cord injuries, autism, and developmental delays. Our participants benefit from equine assisted activities in a variety of ways.
Interested in touring the HETRA facility and learning more about our programs or volunteering? We offer free tours of the HETRA facility twice a month.
Without our dedicated Volunteers we wouldn’t have a program! HETRA is always looking for dedicated and motivated individuals to become part of the HETRA team. To become a volunteer, you DO NOT need to have experience with horses or disability knowledge. Volunteering is a simple two step process!
